How Do I Choose The Right Release?

Releases are the type of agreement you'll use to address intellectual property issues. We’ve got documents to help you protect your trade secrets, cover situations where you have guests on your platform (or in marketing), and ensure you own your digital assets.

The Testimonial Release is what you’ll use to make sure you can use the glowing testimonials your clients and customers will almost certainly provide. Legally, you can’t use someone else’s name, image, or likeness for your commercial purposes without their permission, and some states require that permission to be in writing. This release helps you get the right permissions to use those testimonials.

The Non-Disclosure Agreement lets you share confidential information with others safely. You should not share your confidential information with anyone unless and until they have signed an NDA. If you share confidential information without an NDA, it is no longer protected.

The Publicity Release is a general release that you can use to get permission to use people’s name, image, and likeness in your marketing materials. The most common use case for this document would be for someone who will appear in marketing images or other materials. As a quick note, this is not the right agreement for someone who will be actively teaching or presenting in a paid program. For those cases, use the Guest Expert Agreement that is listed in the Agreements Related To Offers section.

The Podcast Guest Waiver & Release, Video Show Guest Waiver & Release, and Guest Blog Post Agreement are what you’ll use if you have someone as a guest in your content. Pick the one that applies to the kind of content you are creating (podcast, video, or blog).

The Brand Photography Addendum is an add-on for a photography agreement to transfer ownership of the copyrights in those photos to you. By default, most photographers retain ownership of the copyrights in the pictures they take, which can put limits on how you can use them. If you’d like a photographer to transfer ownership to you, this is the agreement to use.
