How does Plainly Legal™ protect my confidential information?
We Take Your Security Seriously
Here at Plainly Legal™, we take data privacy and protection seriously. To get the most out of our system, there's a good chance you'll need to enter confidential information about your business and your clients.
As a conscientious business owner, you are rightly concerned about how we will handle that information and how we will protect you and your clients.
Rest assured that we take data security seriously and have taken a number of steps to protect your confidential information.
We Use Modern Technology & Next Generation Security Protocols
We’ve set up our system to encrypt data while it’s in transit and stored. To explain the technical nature of our data security features, here’s a note from our developers:
Plainly Legal™ keeps consumer data safe by encrypting all transmitted website data using a modern, industry-standard TLS (Transport Layer Security), a step above the previously standard SSL protocol. This means that regardless of what type of connection is used to access the Plainly Legal™ app, the data shared with the app is still encrypted for optimal security.
Plainly Legal™’s modern tech stack, using NextJS, TypeScript, and serverless hosting, means that it is far more up-to-date than applications written in older languages, resulting in better security against hackers.
Databases and their client communications are AES encrypted throughout the data server platform, both in transit and at rest. This means that your data is useless and scrambled to anyone who accesses it in an attack against our hosting servers.
In other words, we use best-practice security protocols and a modern tech stack to protect your data at every step.
We've Partnered With An Industry Leader For Logins & Passwords
Rather than build our own login functionality, we chose to use an industry leader for user authentication. We use Clerk for user authentication, meaning all account logins are protected by a dedicated team of cybersecurity specialists whose top priority is security. Clerk uses best-practice protocols to protect your account from attacks. It also requires strict password requirements, following the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security guidelines.
We Strictly Limit Who Has Access To Your Information
The information you enter into Plainly Legal™ is stored in secure databases, and the only way Plainly Legal™ team members can access that information is by accessing those databases. In other words, there is no "admin panel" that a teammate can easily access to view your information.
We tightly control who has access to the secure databases, limiting access to a few trusted Plainly Legal™ team members and our developers. All of these people have signed confidentiality agreements and are legally bound to protect the private information in our system.
In addition, we NEVER sell user information to third parties. Our Privacy Policy provides more information on how we protect your privacy and details about our technology partners.
